Two 7 amino acid peptides share this vial. Semax copies a short stretch of ACTH, a stress hormone, and Selank adds 3 amino acids to tuftsin, a natural peptide tied to immune cells.

- Selank human trial, 2008. 62 people with anxiety took part, with Selank set against an older drug; anxiety scores were the measure.
- Each alone, human trial, 2020. Brain scans in 52 adults compared each peptide on its own with a placebo.
- Each alone, animal study, 2017. Rats with Parkinson-like brain damage got one peptide or the other, and the team scored movement and signs of anxiety. Neither peptide changed movement.

The 2006 rat study ran in the Journal of Neurochemistry, the 2008 anxiety study in a Russian neurology and psychiatry journal, and the 2017 and 2020 papers in Doklady Biological Sciences. The 2017 rats had Parkinson-like brain damage, and the 2008 study set Selank against medazepam.
